Carrefour Solidaire Community Food Centre operates in Montreal’s Centre-Sud neighbourhood, an inner-city area experiencing higher rates of poverty than the larger population of Montreal. Access to affordable, fresh food in the neighbourhood is challenging.

The Carrefour Solidaire’s compact Community Food Centre at 2375 Sainte-Catherine Est houses a welcoming dining room for community meals and an active workshop and production kitchen, and also shares space with the 3 Paniers alternative grocery store, open to all and featuring an innovative three-tiered solidarity pricing model.

Outside the walls of their premises, Carrefour Solidaire CFC has found creative ways to build downtown gardens on rooftops and in the streets. They also run the Marché Solidaire Frontenac, and operate a regional digital food coupon program called Carte Proximité.
