1JustCity operates Drop-ins in three vulnerable Winnipeg neighborhoods; West Central, West Broadway, and Osborne Village. We also operate an emergency overnight warming shelter. We provide services to 1000’s of Winnipeggers. We work with people living in poverty; experiencing homelessness or precarious housing, mental health and/or substance use disorders, social isolation, oppression due to race or gender identity, and more. Our primary programs are a daily drop-in where all are welcome to come inside for a healthy meal, a cup of coffee, and positive social interaction; an Indigenous Cultural Program which provides accessible opportunities to experience Indigenous culture and engage in concrete reconciliation action; and our Housing Support program with a focus on maintaining successful tenancies. Our work is grounded in relationship; and our drop-in centres are places where people are known by name, and loved. We provide for basic needs, but we also strive to offer programs that are transformational; changing lives for the better, and not simply perpetuating poverty and oppression. The 4 pillars of our work are: Loving the Underloved, Working Towards Reconciliation, Growing Individuals’ Capacity, and Building Inclusive Communities.
