Extend-A-Family Kingston is a registered charitable non-profit that has supported people of all abilities and their families since 1981. Our mission is to empower people through innovation, inclusive connections, and personal growth. Our vision is of a dynamic and inclusive community where everyone can thrive. EAFK offers a diverse range of innovative programs and services designed to foster personal growth and community engagement. A cornerstone initiative is our sustainable hydroponic greenhouse project https://www.eafkingston.com/greenhouse, which operates two hydroponic units capable of growing up to 2,400 heads of produce each month, year-round. The project grows over 10,000 heads annually, promoting food security, sustainability, and climate resilience in the Kingston community, while providing a hands-on learning space that fosters skills in seed-to-table agriculture, teamwork, and giving back to the generous community that supports our charity. EAFK also provides regional leadership through Developmental Services Ontario South East Region, Passport Program administration, Housing Coordination, and Family Support programs, helping individuals and caregivers navigate services and build networks of belonging.
