Supporting local food security across Ontario with LCBO
September 24, 2026
Right To Food is proud to be one of three charitable beneficiaries of the LCBO’s Spirit of Sustainability Support Local campaign for the second year in a row. Running from September 24 to October 11, the province-wide campaign invites LCBO customers to support organizations advancing critical food security programs across Ontario. Funds raised through the campaign will be shared equally among the three charitable partners, helping support food banks, food rescue initiatives, and community-based organizations responding to growing food and social needs in communities across the province. Customers can support the campaign by making a donation directly at LCBO stores from September 24 to October 11.
Funds distributed to Right To Food will support the work of Community Food Centres across Ontario, the Good Food Organization network and our evaluation work that helps us understand, measure, and share their impact.
This investment helps our partners respond to local priorities and demonstrate how community-led programs are improving access to nutritious food, building connection and belonging, and addressing the root causes of food insecurity.
From September 14-17, teams from Neighbour to Neighbour Community Food Centre in Hamilton, The Local Community Food Centre in Stratford, and Sumac Community Food Centre in Toronto visited local LCBO stores to personally thank staff ahead of the campaign and share how their support reaches communities across Ontario.
“Having our Community Food Centre partners visit LCBO stores brought this partnership to life in a real way. LCBO staff could hear about how the funds they help raise translate into real programs, relationships and impact in communities across Ontario,” said Anika Austrie, Director, Corporate & Community Giving at Right To Food.
“
We are incredibly grateful to LCBO, its employees and customers for continuing to stand alongside our partners. Being part of the Support Local campaign for a second year helps ensure community organizations have the resources they need to respond to food insecurity in ways that reflect the needs of the people they serve.
