FoodFit is a 12-week program that helps people make simple, sustainable changes to improve their health and well-being. Designed for adults living on low incomes who face barriers to healthy eating and physical activity, the program brings people together to cook, move, and share meals in a supportive, welcoming space.
Rooted in both expert knowledge and lived experience, FoodFit meets participants where they’re at—helping them build skills, confidence, and connection without shame or pressure.
“
FoodFit taught me that I am important enough to take care of.

Launched in 2014 in partnership with The Local Community Food Centre, FoodFit has since become a core program at dozens of partner sites. To date, it has reached over 2,800 participants in 40 communities across Canada.
Program activities include cooking and sharing affordable, nourishing meals, engaging in accessible group physical activity, tracking personal health goals, and building peer support through connection and conversation.
FoodFit grants have been made available through generous funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada’s Multi-sectoral Partnership Grants Program as well as private and corporate donors like Manulife.
